Towel Rail Technical Information

IP (Ingress Protection) Rating
When hardwire installed, all Radiant Heated Towel Rails have an IP Rating of IP55 (or IPX5). In simple terms, this is an indication of how waterproof the towel rail is. The first number relates to protection from dust particles, and the second number relates to water.

The rating IP55(IPX5) means that the towel rails can be subjected to jets of water from a nozzle of up to 6.3mm from any direction and there will be no harmful effect. Let your electrician know the rating because this often means that when hardwired the towel rail can be installed in zone one (above a bath, or at the end of a walk in shower)

Towel Rail Temperature
As a guide the towel rails should reach temperatures of 50-60 degrees Celcius, however the temperature of the rails will vary dependant on bathroom temperature and whether there is a towel on them or not. A folded towel will insulate the heat and therefore the bars will be warmer than when operated without towels.

If you want to be able to control the temperature of the towel rails, we recommend you purchase a variable power digitial timer switch which has three different power settings (30%, 70% and 100%).
